New Life Counseling Center will be offering a free grief education and counseling event on Sunday June 29th, 4:00 to 5:30 p.m., at the Cut Off Youth Center located at 205 W. 79th St., behind Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The event is in response to the recent, and untimely, deaths of Coach Ciene Dardar (29) and Hurricane Swim Team member, Braxton Bourda (15). The Cut Off Youth Center, and the South Lafource community, is in the midst of suffering the loss of family and friends. The event, led by Dr. Kristyn Carver, will focus on introducing the ways we grieve and the life skills that help us to recover from a death or loss in a healthy manner.
The free event is open to anyone who is interested in understanding how to move on from a significant loss. There will be a presentation from Dr. Carver and New Life Counseling Center staff members followed a small group time (optional). A team of trained counselors will be available to help answer individual questions. No reservation is necessary.
