63% of Louisiana employees are either “not engaged” or “actively disengaged” at work!
This disturbing information was revealed in Gallup’s State of the American Workplace report published in June of 2013. Take a moment to consider how these employee attitudes effect your bottom line.
Engaged employees work with passion and feel a profound connection to their company. They drive innovation and move the organization forward.
Not Engaged employees are essentially “checked out.” They’re sleepwalking through their workday, putting time — but not energy or passion — into their work.
Actively Disengaged employees aren’t just unhappy at work; they’re busy acting out their unhappiness. Every day, these workers undermine what their engaged coworkers accomplish.
Employee engagement has documented impact on the health care related costs to American business. Engaged workers lead healthier lives. Gallup also looked at the wellbeing of the American worker and categorized them as either thriving, struggling, or suffering. Wellbeing has a direct connection with profitability lost to sick days, work ethics, conflict resolution, customer service, and employee turnover. Thriving employees have 41% lower health-related costs to the employer than struggling workers and 62% lower than those who are suffering. Much of this struggle and suffering is from personal and emotional turmoil like finances, marital and parenting challenges, stress, grief, and the use of alcohol or other substances.
The top three ways to develop engagement are 1) select the right people, 2) build on your employee’s strengths, and 3) enhance employee’s wellbeing. Gallup found that employees who are thriving in their lives overall are more than twice as likely as those who are struggling to be engaged in their jobs.

- Anger Management
Conflict resolution is an inevitable part of normal work and family interaction. During the course of this workshop a participant will create an Anger Management Plan consisting of: an understanding of the spectrum of anger-based emotions, acknowledging recurring personal triggers and learning their cues, and identifying strategies that will be practiced and implemented in lieu of destructive outbursts or isolation. - Work Ethic
This workshop will emphasize the personal behaviors of people who excel in the work environment. Topics will include some obvious work habits like punctuality and positive attitude. Some not so obvious topics will be introduced as well, like personal finance, responsible leisure time choices, car maintenance, and social media posting about job related activities and opinions. - Working Together: Personality Styles
In this workshop we will address personality styles and methods for helping different styles work well together. A lack of understanding of personality styles can lead to increased conflict in the workplace as well as additional stress. This workshop is designed to address the issues in an effort to create a more productive and enjoyable work environment. - Stress Management: Avoiding Burnout
It is estimated that 2/3 of all visits to the doctor are in some way related to or impacted by the patient’s stress. Stress often increases absenteeism and reduces productivity. This workshop is designed to help employees identify stressors, better understand the impact of the stress, and offer tools to better manage personal stress. - Marriage
On average, about 1 out of every 2 marriages in America, end in a divorce. The ramifications of a bad marriage or divorce can affect the work environment dramatically. This workshop will specifically address the primary needs of men and women in marriage and give practical ideas on how to meet those needs, so that a healthier marriage can take place. - Substance Use and Abuse
Certainly not every employee who partakes in beverage alcohol will have a work related incident. However, substance related incidents often result in liability claims. This workshop is designed to educate employees about the risks and potential costs of social drinking and substance use. These consequences are most often realized in marital discord, financial strain, automobile accidents, and DUI arrests. Each participant will complete a personal assessment of their substance use. - Personal Finances
Americans owe over 17 trillion dollars in consumer debt. The average debt of each American is over $225,000 ($15,000 of that being credit card debit). How can we alleviate the tsunami wave of debt in our personal lives? This workshop will discuss practical ways to, avoid debt in the first place, start effective debt reduction, and plan for a retirement once you are free of your debt. - Parenting Strategies
This workshop is geared toward helping employees with their other full time job, parenting. Parents who have children of all ages will benefit from practical, effective strategies for staying cool, calm, and connected with their kids. The emphasis of this training is on the parent’s behavior rather than the child’s, based on the belief that if you are not in control, then you cannot be in charge. This principle-based approach will help to build a foundation for stronger and more fulfilling family relationships. - Setting Boundaries with Adult Children
This discussion addresses the difficulties and pain many parents are facing with what is often called, the boomerang generation. The desire to love and help our adult children can easily blur boundaries and lead to patterns of enabling behavior. Strategies for restoring healthy boundaries that lead to taking personal responsibility for choices, along with mutual respect will be explored using the 6 Steps to Sanity information. - Coping with Grief
With great loss, comes great pain and it affects every aspect of our lives. This workshop will help the participants to understand the common stages of grief and the importance of facing the pain of loss. Steps to working through the grief process in healthy ways will be explored. By understanding the journey of grief, recovery is possible, along with renewed hope and healing, to those who are mourning the loss of a loved one.
